Sexual Diversity
increased among Thai people ?
It’s undeniable that Thai society is more open to debate about ‘equality rights’, especially the rights of people with diverse sexual orientations.
However, there’s no guarantee that ‘Thai Society’ is ready to transform into a real ‘Land of Diversity’.
Even if we are open to it, that doesn’t mean we accept it.
Thai PBS Trending in Number invites you to explore how the interest in “sexual diversity” increased among Thai people as reported by Google’s Year in Search.
We have observed a 110% increase in searches for LGBTQ, the highest on record.
And the searches for “Marriage Equality” also increased by 800%.
Data from Google Trends revealed that Thai people are interested in the celebratory Pride Month. This resulted in a surging search for LGBT, LGBT Pride, and Rainbow Flag in June every year.
In addition, Google has compiled an interesting search trend about Pride in Thailand. This includes searches for non-binary gender, queer, pansexuality, LGBT, rainbow flag, LGBT pride, sexual orientation, and homophobia over the past 12 months. This level of search activity is the highest in 15 years.
During the three years leading up to 2023, there has been a significant increase in interest in searching for sexual diversity.
The popular search queries about Pride over the past 12 months included “What is Pride Month,” “What is Pride,” “How many colors are in the rainbow flag and what do they mean,” and “Where is Pride Month organized in Thailand?”
People also recognize diversity and care for equality rights in society more than before. The bill about marriage equality has passed the first approval by the House of Representatives. Various political parties have proposed equality policies in the past election. We have found popular search queries from Thai people over the past 12 months regarding marriage equality.

In the past 12 months, Thailand’s Mae Hong Son, Ang Thong, Phayao, Samut Songkhram, and Chiang Mai had the highest search interest in LGBT.
Pride 2023′ using ZOCIAL EYE from 1-11 June 2023 and found 38,547 messages and 26,993,306 engagements. Most of the activities took place on Facebook, followed by Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms. The posts mostly featured parade photos with hashtags #BangkokPride2023 and #บางกอกไพรด์2023.
